YouTube Adds Integrated Promote Option, Alternate Thumbnails for Different Regions

YouTube’s looking to make it easier to promote your content direct from the main app, while it’s also testing a new option that will enable you to add alternate thumbnail images for translated content.

First off, YouTube’s looking to make its “Promote” option easier to use, by further integrating it into the main app, as opposed to having to go through the Google Ads platform.

As you can see in this example, now, you can promote your videos from the actual playback in the app. You can now also check the status of your campaigns, and review your ad performance, direct in the main YouTube mobile display.

As per YouTube:

“Creators can use YouTube Promote ad campaigns to promote their shorts and VODs, or grow their business directly from YouTube or YouTube Studio, without needing to go to Google Ads. You can use Promote with the goal of getting more subscribers, growing your video views or driving visits to your website.”

So, basically, YouTube’s trying to make it easier to boost your content, similar to other in-stream options on social apps, which could see more users putting a few dollars behind promotion of their YouTube clips.

YouTube’s also looking to make it easier for creators to build their audience, by adding alerts for new creator posts within the Shorts feed.

So now, when you share an update, YouTube will let Shorts viewers know that there’s more content from your channel.

“If you’re a creator who creates shorts and posts, now, your viewers may be able to see both pieces of content from the Shorts feed. Viewers will be able to interact with suggested posts without leaving the feed. The goal is to foster a closer connection between Shorts creators and their viewers, as well as catch viewers up on posts they may have missed.”

That could be a good way to boost engagement with your expanded content output, helping to enhance connection with your audience.

Finally, YouTube is also looking to launch a new option that will enable creators to upload alternate thumbnail images for their videos that have been dubbed into other languages.

YouTube’s auto-dubbing feature, which it made available to all YPP creators back in April, enables you to automatically share your content in different languages, by activating audio translations.

And soon, according to a report from Business Insider, you’ll also be able to upload different thumbnails for each video that’s dubbed into a different language.

That’ll give you more ways to customize and localize your content, which could help you grow your international audience in the app.
