Willie Nelson to Reinterpret the Songs of Rodney Crowell on New Album

Oh What a Beautiful World, due out April 25 and the country legend’s 77th solo studio album, arrives four days before Nelson’s 92nd birthday
Willie Nelson will celebrate his 92nd birthday this April with his 77th solo studio album, as the country legend has announced his latest LP Oh What a Beautiful World.
Due out April 25 — four days before Nelson’s 92nd birthday — the 12-song album is a collection of songs either written or co-written by fellow country great Rodney Crowell, who also guests alongside Willie on the first single and title track, “Oh What a Beautiful World”:
Nelson handpicked the Crowell-penned tracks for the album, spanning songs that Crowell himself performed as well as cuts he wrote for other artists, like Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Banks Of The Old Bandera,” Bob Seger’s “Shame on the Moon,” and Keith Urban’s “Making Memories of Us.”
The Red-Headed Stranger is no stranger to Crowell’s work in his own catalog, having first recorded Crowell’s “Till I Gain Control” for Nelson and Waylon Jennings’ 1983 album Take It to the Limit; Crowell’s “The Border” was also the centerpiece of Nelson’s 2024 album of the same name.
The Buddy Cannon-produced Oh What a Beautiful World is available to preorder now. As usual, Nelson will spend this year on the road, first at his Luck Reunion on Thursday and then on his roving Outlaw Music Festival with Bob Dylan.
