Wilco will return to the road this spring for a run through the U.S. South, with Waxahatchee joining them for most of the tour. The Sweet and Sour Spring 2025 Tour kicks off April 25 in Fairhope, AL, making its way through Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas before wrapping up May 17 in Louisville, KY.
Waxahatchee will open 14 of these shows, missing only the tour opener and an April 27 St. Petersburg date. In addition to genre and alphabetical commonalities, there’s a family connection between the two acts — Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy‘s son, Spencer Tweedy, is currently Waxahatchee’s drummer. Waxahatchee’s most recent album, the country-inflected Tigers Blood, landed at Number 10 on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 best albums of 2024.
Following the Southern dates, Wilco will begin an international tour that includes a stop at Brazil’s C6 Festival and extensive European dates, hitting major venues including London’s Royal Albert Hall and festivals across the continent. The band also has two archival projects scheduled for this year: a three-LP expanded edition of 2010’s The Whole Love, due in April, and a deluxe nine-LP/four-CD box set of 2004’s A Ghost Is Born, due Feb. 7.
According to a press release, the tour will showcase material from these reissues alongside songs from Wilco’s latest releases: their 2023 album Cousin and 2024’s Hot Sun Cool Shroud EP. Before the tour begins, frontman Jeff Tweedy will perform his annual charity shows at Chicago’s Vic Theater on April 18 and 19. Tickets for all newly announced dates go on sale Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.
