Watch Tate McRae Showcase ‘Revolving Door’ on ‘Fallon’

The dynamic performance follows the pop singer’s Saturday Night Live appearance over the weekend

Tate McRae stopped by The Tonight Show to perform her song “Revolving Door.” The moody track appears on her new LP, So Close to What, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Album chart this week.

McRae showcased the song inside a white box fitted with a revolving floor and spotlight. She was accompanied by two dancers, giving the song a stylish visual that subtly evoked the song’s music video.

The late-night show performance follows on the heels of McRae’s Saturday Night Live appearance, which saw the singer taking the stage for “Sports Car” and “Dear God.” McRae previously debuted as SNL‘s musical guest in Nov. 2023, performing Think Later‘s ” Grave” and “Greedy.”

The Canadian pop singer recently told Rolling Stone that she began writing songs that would end up on So Close to What shortly after her second album, Think Later, was released in Dec. 2023.

“Even though it’s work, writing feels like my safe space,” she explained. “The stable part of my life is when I’m able to talk about my feelings. So, I feel like amidst how crazy the year was on tour, it actually was nice to come home and keep writing about my perspective on where I was at in life.”

McRae will kick off her 50-date Miss Possessive Tour in March in support of the album. She’ll begin her global tour in Mexico on March 18, and make stops in U.S. cities including Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, New York, and Atlanta. The dancer-turned-pop star told Rolling Stone that touring has changed her approach to making music.

“As I’m getting older and I’m experiencing shows and how I want them to feel, one of the first things I think about is how it’s going to feel on a stage with people singing it back and the lights and the cameras and the feel of it all,” she said.
