TikTok Announces Activations for International Women’s Day

TikTok has announced a new slate of programming for International Women’s Day, which will put the spotlight on a range of female creators who are achieving great things in their respective fields.

As per TikTok:
“At TikTok, we’re committed to supporting women by fostering a safe and inclusive space for women from all walks of life to create, connect and thrive. For International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we’re bringing the celebration to life on TikTok with in-app programming set to feature special hashtag pages for #WomenofTikTok and #WomeninSports, alongside a series of creator spotlights throughout the month of March. We’re also highlighting and honoring our inspiring creators and women-owned businesses with IRL events across the globe.”
As part of the event, TikTok has also highlighted 10 female creators in widely varying fields, including astrophysicist Dr. Kirsten Banks, throat singer Shina Nova, and 87-year-old TikTok creator Young Won Kim.
The selected creators come from across the globe, and represent an ever-broadening scope of women gaining recognition and raising awareness in a range of fields.
In addition to this creator spotlight, TikTok has also launched a special TikTok Shop “SOAR Together” small business accelerator program, in collaboration with the Association of Women Business Centers.
“With our SOAR Together accelerator program, we’re committed to continue providing personalized coaching, mentorship and networking opportunities that help women-owned businesses across the United States reach their goals and thrive.”
And as noted, TikTok will also highlight various creators and clips under the #WomenofTikTok hashtag, which will showcase all sorts of people and stories that align with the broader celebration.
And TikTok has enabled many creators, female and male, to reach new audiences, and make their passions their career, which is something that would be missed if TikTok were to be banned, as it has been able to highlight a whole range of different creators to different audiences, in variance to Meta’s apps.
That would be a negative of the U.S. TikTok ban being upheld, or further related action in other regions.
TikTok’s International Women’s Day event highlights this once again, through a celebration of these creators.
