Threads Adds Markup Option to Re-Shared Posts

Here’s a simple, but potentially handy new Threads option. Now, when you go to re-share a post, Threads has added a new “Markup” option to the listing, which enables you to highlight certain elements of an image, write over it, etc., before re-posting.

As you can see in this example, shared by social media expert Lindsey Gamble, now, when you tap on the “Repost” button, you’ll see an extra option for “Markup”, which could be an easy way to create custom indicators or notes on a re-shared post.

Essentially, it’ll save you from having to save an image, edit it yourself on your device, then re-post it. Which is not a major hassle, but maybe, by building this into the app itself, that’ll be a welcome addition for users, and provide another way for people to inject their own input and emphasis.

Though it’s not available to everybody just yet. Thus far, it seems like selected U.S. users have the option, with Threads gradually rolling it out to more regions.

So you may have to wait. I mean, there’s probably not a heap of people waiting with bated breath for it, but it is a potentially handy, simple addition to encourage different types of sharing in the app.
