The 1777 Battle of Diamond Island Podcast

In the latest Lake George Battlefield Moments podcast, Bruce Venter provides context for the battle, which occurred on September 24, 1777, and its effects on British General John Burgoyne‘s campaign to capture Albany for the British.

Venter also shares his longstanding push to have commemorative signs about the battle erected on the island, which came to fruition earlier this summer.

Upcoming Event

Bruce Venter’s presentation, “The Battle of Diamond Island & Signs That Explain It,” takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 7 pm in the Fort William Henry Conference Center in Lake George. It will be a rare opportunity to hear details and ask questions about the Fort Ticonderoga – Diamond Island – Fort George supply line on Lake George as Burgoyne moved his troops along a more easterly route.
