Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is the latest celebrity to scoop up a home in a Tribeca landmark. The singer-songwriter paid $9,950,000 for a duplex penthouse at 108 Leonard Street, as first reported by The Real Deal. Designed in the 1890s by McKim, Mead & White, the Beaux-Arts building served as the headquarters of the New York Life Insurance Company and has been recently restored by Jeffrey Beers International and converted into luxury condos. Carpenter, who is currently touring behind her new album “Man’s Best Friend,” bought the home from Cassandra Grey, founder of beauty brand Violet Grey.

Grey paid $10.8 million for the apartment in 2022, according to CityRealty, and later listed the home for $11.5 million last December. Douglas Elliman’s Frances Katzen had the listing.
Spanning 2,900 square feet across two floors, the residence is accessible via a private elevator and features three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and four private terraces.
Wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows, the great room opens onto the largest of the terraces. Two secondary bedrooms on the first level offer en-suite bathrooms along with their own private terraces.

A chef’s kitchen includes custom oak cabinetry, marble countertops, and top-of-the-line Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.
Upstairs, two walk-in closets offer ample storage, while the primary suite includes a sitting area, a private terrace, and a five-piece en-suite bathroom.
The home comes with a private storage unit, with private parking available for purchase.

Designed by the acclaimed architectural firm McKim, Mead & White in 1898, the building originally served as the New York Life Insurance Company headquarters. Constructed in phases, it rises 13 stories on Broadway and is topped by its signature four-sided clock and bell tower, earning it the nickname “Clock Tower Building,” according to CityRealty.
Acquired by the city in 1967, the building served as housing courts and government offices before gaining landmark status and a place on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 2013, Peebles Corporation and Elad Group bought 108 Leonard Street for $160 million and carried out a careful restoration spearheaded by architects Howard L. Zimmerman and SLCE. Outside, the rusticated White Tuckahoe marble facade was restored, while inside, designer Jeffrey Beers created 167 custom residences ranging from studios to four bedrooms.
Since then, the building has become known for its celebrity residents, including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, who purchased a two-bedroom apartment for $3.5 million in 2020, according to The Real Deal. Earlier this year, Alexandra Clancy, widow of spy novelist Tom Clancy, bought a penthouse there for $21.4 million.
The building’s celebrity roster also includes Clive Davis, Hugh Jackman, Zoe Jackson, reality TV producer and daughter of Samuel L. Jackson, and fashion designer Christian Siriano.
The clock tower penthouse, one of the building’s last remaining units, debuted on the market in April with a $19.25 million asking price, according to the New York Post. The expansive home includes 8,770 square feet of interior space and 3,082 square feet outdoors.
Amenities include a porte-cochere, full-service garage, double-height attended lobby and lounge, a fitness center, an indoor lap pool, a wine cellar with a private dining room, and rooftop gardens with a fire pit, dining area, cabana lounges, and skyline views.
