Alanis Morissette, Reneé Rapp, Blake Shelton, Luis Fonsi, and TLC have joined the lineup for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Fonsi will perform from his home country Puerto Rico, Shelton will take the stage in Las Vegas, and TLC will perform in New York as part of the broadcast, ABC and Dick Clark Productions announced Tuesday.
Morrissette and Rapp will join the West Coast party, alongside the likes of Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Ja Rule, Ernest, Hardy, Kesha, Laufey, Natasha Bedingfield, T-Pain, and DJ Cassidy. DJ Cassidy will perform his Pass The Mic Live! set, a hot potato-like game where artists perform in a sing-along format to their chart-topping songs.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, which started in 1970, reflects on the past year with global musical performances and celebrity cameos. Millions of families tune in to the nationwide broadcast, chiming in for its famous countdown to midnight. Last year’s broadcast attracted 22.2 million viewers and included performances by Green Day, Ludacris, and Janelle Monáe. Ryan Seacrest will host this year’s New Year’s Eve festivities for the 20th year alongside co-host Rita Ora.
In Puerto Rico, Dayanara Torres co-hosts. Carrie Underwood steps away from judging on American Idol, the competition show that made her a household name nearly two decades ago, to headline Rockin’ Eve in Times Square. Megan Moroney, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose 2000s track “Murder on the Dancefloor” blew up thanks to Saltburn, will also take the stage at the yearly celebration.
Tinashe, Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, Cody Johnson, and Lenny Kravitz were previously announced as performers on the Dick Clark-produced show. Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve airs Dec. 31 on ABC, and will arrive on Hulu the next day.
