Introduction and specs

The numeric Oppo Reno series is here, and the subject of this review is the vanilla Reno13, which brings some notable upgrades compared to its predecessor. The device comes at a slightly higher cost, though.

The interesting bit is that there’s a bigger difference between the vanilla and the Pro version this year. We’ve got different camera setups, batteries, charging capabilities and even displays.

Reno13 Pro vs. Reno13

The Reno13 takes on the role of the more compact sibling this time around and offers a smaller 6.59-inch display compared to the Reno13 Pro and last year’s Reno12. It’s now higher resolution, though.

The chipset has also received some attention and is now Dimensity 8350, the same one used for the Reno13 Pro. There’s seemingly no change in the camera setup on the back, coming from the Reno12 – 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide one. On the other hand, the selfie has received a nice update as it’s now 50MP with AF.

Although there’s no microSD card slot this year, the new Reno13 compensates with a better ingress protection rating (IP68/IP69) and substantially higher battery capacity – 5,600 mAh. The battery supports up to 80W fast charging over Oppo’s proprietary SuperVOOC standard.

But we are rarely convinced by the specs sheet alone, so let’s take a deeper dive and see what’s up with the vanilla Reno this year.

Unboxing the Oppo Reno13

The Reno13 arrives in a modest box containing the usual user manuals along with a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer.

However, the charger isn’t included in the box, at least in the EU, but you can get an 80W charger and a pair of Enco X3i TWS earbuds as part of an ongoing early bird promotion.
