About a month after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets, NBA point guard Ben Simmons is selling his Dumbo condo. As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, the Australian-born basketball player put his combined apartment on the 21st-floor of new development Olympia Dumbo on the market for $16,995,000. Simmons, who recently moved across the country to join the LA Clippers, bought the apartment for about $14 million in 2023.

Residence 21 A/D at Olympia is a combination of two units for over 5,200 square feet of interior living, along with a large wraparound terrace. Together, the residence offers five bedrooms, five full baths, two half baths, and several custom spaces.

From the foyer and down a long hallway leads to the sprawling great room, which has a chef’s kitchen and access to the outdoor terrace. Stunning views of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and beyond, are on full display.

In a 2023 interview and tour of his apartment with Esquire Australia, Simmons said he designed his apartment to get him in the right mindset. One unit is for rest and recovery, with a movie theater, gym, and primary bedroom, and the other is for entertaining and gathering.
“I’m very particular with everything I have going on in the house, from the wallpapers and furniture to the light fixtures,” Simmons told the magazine. “I’m very into it. I would imagine a lot of NBA guys probably allow whoever it is to do it for them or they’re not as invested in the whole project.”
He added: “But for me, it’s personal. Where I’m going to lay my head is my home. So I want everything to be specific to what I love and want to see every day.”

Personal touches added by Simmons include Gucci wallpaper in the game room, a collection of the Japanese Bearbrick toys in the foyer, and a massive walk-in closet he used solely for shoes.

The second living area is made for entertaining. Another huge kitchen is equipped with high-end appliances, including a wine fridge.

Developed by Fortis Property Group and designed by Hill West Architects, 33-story Olympia Dumbo is the tallest building in the neighborhood. The building has 76 residences ranging from one- to five-bedroom apartments. Thanks to its sail-shaped design, the tower has no more than six units per floor.
Amenities include a private garden lounge, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a spin studio, a boxing gym, and private locker rooms on the ground floor. On the 10th floor, there’s an indoor lap pool, an outdoor pool, a children’s playroom, and an outdoor private tennis court overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge.
Sales launched at the building in 2021. In December, a 32nd floor penthouse hit the market for $19,500,000, becoming the most expensive condo currently for sale in Brooklyn.
According to the Real Deal, about half of the building’s 76 units have sold.
