Macy’s to host new holiday market at Herald Square flagship

Macy’s will debut its first-ever holiday market at its iconic Herald Square flagship this season. In partnership with Urbanspace, which runs the popular open-air holiday markets in Bryant Park, Union Square, and Columbus Circle, Macy’s Holiday Square will open on November 1 inside the store on 34th Street and feature local and holiday vendors. Following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a new market dubbed the Herald Holiday Market will open on the plazas outside the store starting December 6.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Urbanspace to unveil the first-ever Macy’s Holiday Square to our iconic New York flagship,” Nata Dvir, Macy’s chief merchandising officer, said. “We are creating the ultimate holiday experience that features unique gifts, decor and food that will be a must visit destination this season.”

Macy’s Holiday Square will offer an “immersive” experience with an assortment of products, holiday gifts, and food and beverages from 30 local vendors.

In its inaugural year, the shop will feature some of the city’s best hot chocolate, stroopwafels from Amsterdam, handcrafted Italian chocolates, Crumbl Cookies, and other festive treats. Shoppers can also browse personalized ornaments, jewelry, handmade stationery, candles, decorative accessories, and more.

In addition to the vendors on the mezzanine level, specialty holiday vendors will be showcased across each floor of Macy’s, offering visitors a fully immersive festive market experience.

“We’re excited to expand our holiday market footprint with the incredible partnership at Macy’s Herald Square,” Eldon Scott, president of Urbanspace, said. “This collaboration offers shoppers the best of New York’s holiday markets with the famous Macy’s Department Store!”

The new Herald Holiday Market runs December 6 through January 3 and operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Macy’s also announced it will sell Thanksgiving Day Parade products and other gifting favorites at the Holiday Shops at Bryant Park this year, starting on October 25.

Other spirited events hosted by the store this season include Macy’s Santaland, debuting at Herald Square on November 29, and the holiday window displays, installed sometime in November.
