Will Ferrell, Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn, and Danny DeVito to serve as coaches at Skate for LA Strong event on Feb. 23 at Crypto.com Arena
Justin Bieber, Steve Carell, and Ross Lynch are among the celebrities who will lace up the skates for a benefit hockey game Sunday to raise funds for Los Angeles wildfire relief.
Will Ferrell, Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn, Danny DeVito and Cobie Smulders will also participate — albeit from behind the bench, as coaches — for the “Skate For LA Strong: A Celebration to Support the Fire Recovery Efforts in Los Angeles” event, taking place February 23 at the Crypto.com Arena.
The event will feature a four-team, single-elimination format, with the teams padded out by hockey legends — like Jeremy Roenick, Rob Blake, Mark Messier, Manon Rheaume, and Dany Heatley, to name just a few — as well as athletes from other sports, and hockey-playing First Responders.
The Canadian Bieber is no stranger to hockey, participating in celebrity games in the past and playing a prominent role at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto. Carell’s puck skills were previously featured The Office, but the actor also had a noteworthy hockey career playing goalie on the collegiate level; Carell will not be in the crease for Sunday’s game, however.
Kaskade, Jordan Davis, and Lauren Spencer-Smith will serve as musical guests at the Skate for LA Strong event, which will donate all proceeds the Red Cross, the LA Fire Foundation, Cal Fire Foundation and Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund. Tickets to the event are free for “all Firefighters, First Responders, community group leaders, fire victims and their families as well as for Kings Season Tickets Members,” the Los Angeles Kings said. The game itself will air on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
