A residential development in South Williamsburg is adding a restaurant from a celebrity chef. Israeli chef Eyal Shani and Good People Group will open a new restaurant concept at Williamsburg Wharf, a project with five new residential towers and a public park currently under construction on the waterfront. Developer Naftali Group announced on Monday that the new eatery will occupy 4,000 square feet of ground-floor space along Kent Avenue.

Founded in 2008 in Israel, Shani’s Good People Group operates over 40 restaurants worldwide, including several Mediterranean-inspired spots in New York City, like Malka, Miznon, HaSalon, Port Sai’d, the Michelin-starred Shmoné, and the new wine bar next door, Shmoné Wine.
“Along the city’s most mesmerizing waterfront, we are excited to join the Naftali Group in shaping something extraordinary,” Shani said. “As we expand in New York, we are thrilled to welcome guests into this new home.”
The new concept at Williamsburg Wharf will show off the chef’s “signature dining experience and unique culinary philosophy,” according to the press release.
“Welcoming Eyal Shani, the amazing chef behind great restaurants such as Port Sa’id, Michelin-starred Shmoné, HaSalon, Miznon, and Malka, will further enrich the retail and cultural experience for both residents and visitors is an exciting moment for our firm, and this project,” Miki Naftali, chair and CEO of Naftali Group, said.
“This partnership is focused on building a space where people can come together, connect, and enjoy not only great food but also a creative atmosphere that reflects the vibrant energy of Williamsburg. We are proud to have Good People Group as our tenant at Williamsburg Wharf, and we are confident that under Chef Eyal Shani’s leadership, the restaurant will offer a unique and inspired culinary experience for everyone who visits.”

Designed by Brandon Haw Architecture and Hill West Architects, Williamsburg Wharf includes five 22-story luxury residential towers with 850 condominium and rental units and retail space across nearly 1 million square feet at 464-484 Kent Avenue.
One Williamsburg Wharf, which was crowned 6sqft’s 2024 Building of the Year, launched sales for its 89 condos last September; current availabilities start at $1,290,000, according to CityRealty.
Construction is underway on the first phase of Williamsburg Wharf, scheduled to be completed this year. Retail tenants are expected to move in starting late 2025.
Leasing is expected to launch soon for rentals at Two Williamsburg Wharf and Three Williamsburg Wharf. A housing lottery for 26 middle-income apartments launched at the development last month, with below-market-rate units priced from $3,434/month for a studio.
