How did Spurs superstar fare against Boston Celtics? (Feb. 12)

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs visited the Boston Celtics on Wednesday at TD Garden, trying to beat the reigning NBA champions and secure the 24th win of the season with a big upset. The Spurs are coming off a 10-point win over the Washington Wizards on Monday, ending a two-game skid.

The Frenchman tried to will his squad to the promised land, but it wasn’t an easy task for the Western Conference team.

Wembanyama started the game by scoring four points in the first six minutes, making two of his four field goal attempts. However, the Celtics were too dominant and won the first quarter 34-19. He only attempted one more shot for the rest of the period.

He added two more points at 10:14 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 41-23. He added a pair of free throws and a two-point shot before leaving the game with a little over four minutes in the second period. Victor Wembanyama finished the first half with 10 points while grabbing six rebounds.

“Wemby” added two points in the third quarter but grabbed four rebounds. He didn’t have the best night from the field, even missing his five 3-point attempts in his first 27 minutes of action. He played nine more minutes and added five more points to his account, but it still didn’t help the Spurs overcome the defending champions.

He finished the game with 17 points while shooting 7-from-16 from the field, 1-from-6 from deep and 2-from-2 from the free throw line.

On the other end, Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis led the Boston Celtics to the promised land with 32 and 29 points, respectively. “JT” added 14 rebounds and seven rebounds while Porzingis grabbed six rebounds.

The Spurs star shared his thoughts on this opportunity, sending a clear message to the rest of the players.

“I don’t have any interest in making friends or trying to do anything. I’m here for work,” Wembanyama said.

Victor Wembanyama didn’t have the best game against the Celtics and the Spurs lost the 28th game of the season.
