Geno Smith exits Seahawks game early with concerning knee injury

The Seahawks could be facing a significant Geno Smith injury worry in their playoff pursuit.

The veteran quarterback exited Seattle’s game against the Packers late in the third quarter with a right knee injury on Sunday night, with Seattle down 23-6.

Smith was tackled at feet by the Seahawks linebacker Edgerrin Cooper while running backward and turning his back to throw a pass.

It made for an awkward landing.

The quarterback landed hard with Cooper’s hands still around his ankle. 

Smith slammed his helmet in frustration as he walked to the sideline and could be seen on the NBC broadcast slumped over and in visible pain.

Receiver Tyler Lockett walked back to the locker room with Smith 

The former Jet and Giant tested the knee, but was unable to return to the game, according to the NBC broadcast.

Sam Howell replaced Smith under center.

The Seahawks entered the game in first place in the NFC West, but will drop into a tie with the Rams with the 30-13 loss.
