Fort Greene’s ‘Pink’ Condos A Top Brooklyn Contract

It was a big week for Douglas Elliman’s Doug Bowen and Zia O’Hara. 

The agents had the listings for the two priciest contracts in Brooklyn last week, according to Compass’ weekly report of contracts for homes asking at least $2 million from Sept. 21 to Sept. 27. In total, the borough saw 24 contracts — 15 condos and nine houses — for an asking volume of $66 million, up from last week’s 19 contracts for $54 million

The priciest contract last week went to a legal two-family townhouse in Fort Greene asking $4.7 million. 

The 3,280-square-foot home, at 250 Cumberland Street, is currently configured as an upper triplex and a garden-level studio. It last sold in 2013 for almost $1.9 million.

The home has a wood-burning fireplace, original wood floors and a renovated kitchen.

The building underwent a landmark-approved facade restoration that includes a heated bluestone patio and new portico and stoop. The home also has a landscaped back garden. 

The second priciest listing went to a unit 6A at 144 Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene. 

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home spans almost 2,200 square feet and comes with 250 square feet of outdoor space spread between a terrace and a loggia. 

The primary suite has a walk-in closet, en-suite bath, separate office and private loggia. 

The condo unit is one of 26 being offered by Brooklyn-based developer Tankhouse at its eight-story development on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Vanderbilt Avenue. The property has caught attention in the neighborhood with its light pink siding. 

The building comes with over 11,000 square feet of private amenities, including a secluded garden that holds a studio that can be used for yoga or meditation. It also comes with a double-height coworking lounge, game room, fitness center and a central sunken garden. The sixth floor has another landscaped garden.

Sales launched one year ago and closings began in June. The building is just over half sold. 

Homes going into contract last week had a median asking price of $2.6 million, an average price per square foot of $1,556 and spent an average of 66 days on market.
