Black Keys Plot 2025 Tour Dates After Canceling Arena Trek Last Year
The Black Keys have announced a new run of North American dates for the spring leg of their No Rain No Flowers Tour.
The trek kicks off May 23 in Durant, Oklahoma at the Grand Theater at the Choctaw Casino and Resort, and wraps June 14 at Stone Pony Summerstage in Asbury Park, New Jersey. During the tour, the Black Keys will receive support from Swiss duo Hermanos Gutiérrez (whose last two albums Dan Auerbach produced) and London outfit the Heavy Heavy on select dates.
Tickets for all shows will go on sale Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. local time, with full info available on the Black Keys’ website.
The upcoming tour finds the Black Keys returning to the road after a tumultuous 2024, when the arena tour in support of their latest album, Ohio Players, was canceled amid reports of low ticket sales and a public split with their former management team, Irving Azoff and Steve Moir of Full Stop Management. The band eventually signed a new deal with another prominent management company, Red Light.
While their tour got canceled, the Black Keys did play a handful of shows last year, including a private gig in their hometown of Akron last October, which was sponsored by the pro-cryptocurrency political action group, Stand With Crypto. During the 2024 elections, Stand With Crypto backed Ohio Republican Bernie Moreno during his successful bid to unseat Democrat Sherrod Brown in the Ohio Senate race.
Along with their upcoming tour, the Black Keys are reportedly prepping a follow-up to Ohio Players, which is set to arrive later this year.
“After the tour was canceled, the consensus was, ‘Shit happens, and you just have to move through it,’” drummer Patrick Carney said in a statement. “We were already on a creative streak, and the best thing we could do, rather than sit at home, was just go back in the studio. Get back to work. So, that’s how the record started.”
“Writing and recording has always been therapy for us, from the very beginning. We communicate best that way,” Auerbach added. “It has always been the thing that’s brought us together, so I’m not surprised at all that we ended up back there so quickly after the last album.”
