Billionaires’ Row condo sells for $82.5M, pricest deal of the year

Media executive Byron Allen has sold his condo on Billionaires’ Row for $82.5 million, marking New York City’s priciest deal of the year so far. As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Allen paid $75 million in 2023 for the five-bedroom pad at 220 Central Park South, a limestone-clad tower designed by Robert A.M. Stern that is considered one of the most expensive condo buildings in the country.

Apartment 45A measures over 6,000 square feet and has five bedrooms, six baths, a private library, and two balconies. The home was sold in an off-market deal.

As the New York Post reported, the new owner is an LLC tied to Huizenga Holdings, the investment firm founded by the late business mogul Wayne Huizenga.

Allen, founder of the media company Allen Media Group, owns a smaller apartment at 220 Central Park South, which he bought for $26.75 million in 2019, as well as several other luxury mansions across the country.

According to CityRealty, the deal marks New York City’s 14th most expensive apartment sale of all time.

Overlooking Central Park, 220 Central Park South includes a 70-story tower and an 18-story “Villa” with 118 total apartments. The building is not a stranger to breaking records. Ken Griffin’s purchase of a $240 million condo there in 2019 set a price record for the country. Joe Tsai paid $157.5 million for two units in 2021 and $190 million for a penthouse there in 2022.
