Bethenny Frankel sells historic Greenwich estate for $7.8M

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel has sold her historic Greenwich, Connecticut estate for $7,825,000, almost double the $4.25 million she paid in 2021. The “Real Housewives of New York” alum sold the three-acre property, known as Applejack Farm, in an off-market deal following her move to Florida. Built in 1743, the estate, one of the oldest properties in Greenwich, includes a 6,500-square-foot main house with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plus a two-bedroom guest house with a separate studio, a three-bay garage, and a “party barn.”

Situated in the “Golden Triangle” of Greenwich, Connecticut, the home has had just a handful of owners over its nearly 300-year history, including former Connecticut Gov. Lowell Weicker and his wife, Claudia, who lived there from 1989 to 2001.

After purchasing the home, Frankel revamped the interiors with an eye toward optimizing and maximizing space. One of the standout upgrades is the kitchen, now outfitted with La Cornue appliances, exposed beams, new marble countertops, built-in bench seating in the windowed dining area, and black-painted cabinetry that replaced the original white.

Frankel also infused the home with much-needed color, incorporating patterned wallpaper, bold hues, and updated light fixtures. Despite the refresh, the makeover preserved the home’s historic charm, including its brick fireplaces, paneled walls, ornate moldings, antique bar, and other striking architectural details.

The sprawling main house includes six full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, grand historic rooms, and a primary suite with dual spa-quality baths. The walk-out lower level offers a media room, an entertainer’s bar, a dedicated gym, and more.

Outside, the carefully landscaped grounds include mature specimen trees, rolling lawns, landscape lighting, a stone patio, a storage shed, and a covered porch with a swing overlooking the private property.

The off-market deal was managed by Jeff Jackson of Corcoran Centric Realty.

“In a town where demand continues to outpace supply, even at the highest end of the market, the opportunity to own a legacy estate such as this one is very rare,” Jackson said. “Therefore, it is no surprise that the home was swiftly snapped up, epitomizing Greenwich’s current market trends.”

Last September, Frankel listed her Bridgehampton home at 346 Lumber Lane for $5,995,000. She had previously sold another seven-room house in the area in 2020 for $2.28 million.
