Science, history, technology, art, and more come together in the first ever West End Arts Campus STEAM Fair.
The STEAM Fair is a unique science and art festival featuring organizations across Central New York and the Finger Lakes Region who will provide hands-on learning and fun for attendees of all ages at various stations across the grounds of the West End Arts Campus in Auburn, NY on Saturday, October 11th.
This STEAM Fair’s theme is Water Works: all exhibitors will feature a demonstration or conversation about the diverse ways that water can be utilized. The Cayuga Museum and Schweinfurth Art Center’s exhibitions will be available to explore for free as well.
The STEAM Fair will take place from 10 am until to 2 pm and is free and open to the public, with Fall treats available for purchase at the New Hope Mills booth. Information tables will be stationed near the entry ways of the Campus for details, exhibitor maps, and to purchase tickets for a West End Arts Campus raffle basket of items from the Cayuga Museum and Schweinfurth gift shops.
Exhibitors include the Cayuga Museum of History & Art, Combgrown Mead, Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, New Hope Mills, Owasco Watershed Lake Association, Port Byron Old Erie Canal Heritage Park, Schweinfurth Art Center, Skaneateles Historical Society, and Xylem.
Activities will include ice dyeing, learning about foodways and the Erie Canal, making holiday cards with watercolors, and the science behind water engineering and chemistry. From noon until 2 pm, the Schweinfurth will offer a pottery wheel demonstration.
The West End Arts Campus is the name of the combined space of the Cayuga Museum of History & Art and the Schweinfurth Art Center at 203 & 205 Genesee St. in Auburn, NY.
The parking lots of the West End Arts Campus will be reserved for exhibitors and individuals with accessibility needs during the duration of this event. Visitors are encouraged to park in the overflow parking lot at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, at 196 Genesee St., or on Genesee or Washington St.
