A new food hall showcasing the best of Asian cuisine is set to open in Long Island City this May. Dubbed the LIC Food Hall, the culinary experience will debut inside the Star Tower condo building at 27-17 42nd Road, as first reported by LIC Post. Featuring 10 established and emerging vendors, the hall will offer a mix of dine-in and takeout options, serving up Chinese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, and Japanese specialties.

LIC Food Hall will sit on the ground floor of Star Tower, a 25-story condo tower with 184 apartments. The building is conveniently located in the middle of Queensboro Plaza and Queens Plaza subway stations, with Court Square slightly further west.
Vendors include:
Marathon Hong Kong Diner

Capturing the essence of Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Vital will serve its signature pho broth, slow-simmered for hours, along with fresh meats, herbs, and rice noodles. The menu will also feature authentic dishes like Chả Giò (spring rolls), Suon Nuong (grilled pork chop), and Gỏi Gà (chicken salad). The eatery will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Gua Gua Bo Bo Chicken
Specializing in Szechuan street food, Gua Gua is best known for its signature Bo Bo Chicken, a spicy, fragrant skewer dish inspired by Chengdu’s night markets. The menu also features favorites like braised pork over rice, sour and spicy noodles, and other classic street food bites, offering an authentic taste of China’s vibrant night market culture.
Onigiri Planet
Specializing in the beloved Japanese rice ball snack, Onigiri Planet will offer fillings like fried chicken, kimchi beef, shrimp tempura, and more.

For hungry residents or workers in the area, LIC Food Hall is right across from the Jacx & Co food hall, which opened in The Jacx, a two-tower commercial complex developed by Tishman Speyer, in November 2020. Designed by INC Architecture & Design, the food hall features nine eateries offering Mexican cuisine, pizza, hot dogs & burgers, and more.
Despite losing several food halls over the last year, like Citizens Market Hall in Manhattan West, the Market Line, and Williamsburg Food Hall among others, New York City is gaining a few new food halls.
Earlier this month, Time Out announced it would be opening its second NYC food hall this fall in Union Square, featuring a curated selection of the city’s premier culinary and cultural experiences.
In January, beloved Japanese brand Muji launched its first-ever food market in the United States at Chelsea Market. Known as the Muji Food Market, the hall features Japanese-style sandwiches, specialty beverages, and an AI-powered coffee-making robot, all complementing the store’s signature decor, beauty, apparel, and other popular products, as 6sqft previously reported.
As first reported by Eater, Japanese retailer Uniqlo opened the first North American location of its coffee shop, Uniqloe Coffee, at 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown last week.
