American Revolution Archaeological Research in Lake Champlain

History, artifacts, and shipwrecks lie in the depths of Lake Champlain, waiting to share their secrets and stories with the underwater archaeologists who dive down to explore. In 2025, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is introducing Talking Archaeology, a free evening talk series with Museum archaeologists and researchers.
You can learn about local history, archaeological discoveries, artifacts, and the unique stories that the Museum has uncovered over four decades of nautical archaeology and research.
On June 5, for the first installment of the series, Museum Executive Director Chris Sabick will present “Uncovering the American Revolution: Current and Upcoming Archaeological Research in Lake Champlain.”
This talk will be held in the auditorium of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum’s Hoehl Family Education and Visitor Center. It will last approximately 30-45 minutes with time for Q&A afterwards. Talking Archaeology is free to attend with registration here.
The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is a non-profit maritime museum located in Vergennes, Vermont at 4472 Basin Harbor Road. Visiting the museum is free.
