The 5th Annual Albany Film Festival will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the University at Albany. This community event will draw thousands of film lovers of all ages and highlight the work of alumni, local, regional and student filmmakers.
One of the highlights of the film festival is the screening of short films (hosted by the New York Almanack‘s John Warren) and the awards ceremony.
New York-based filmmakers are invited to submit their film shorts for the 2025 Albany Film Festival Short Film Awards. The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025.
Awards and monetary prizes will be given out for the following:
Best Overall Short Film–$500
The Brendan Fahy Bequette Student Short Film Award–$300, sponsored by The Brendan Fahy Bequette Fund, per Patricia Fahy & Wayne Bequette
Best Comedic Short Film–$200
Best Dramatic Short Film–$200
Best Experimental Short Film–$200
Best Documentary Short Film–$200
Best Animated Short Film–$200
Best Horror Short Film–$200
