‘A Christmas Story’ house staff issue surprising plea to fans

Oh, fudge!

An employee at the “A Christmas Story” home in Ohio lost his wedding ring while packing leg lamps and other merch meant for fans of Jean Shepherd’s sensational 1983 holiday comedy, which starred Peter Billingsley as Ralphie and Darren McGavin as The Old Man.

“If you’ve recently placed an order with us,” house staff announced on Facebook, “please take a moment to check your package for his ring.”

The movie-worthy mishap occurred just a few days into December, as the team was mailing out holiday orders.

The modest home in the heart of Cleveland used as the filming location for the Parker family’s fictional Hohman, Indiana, residence, has become a year-round tourist attraction.

Lovers of the cult classic film have been known to make pilgrimages to the Buckeye State to peep the premises — without the risk of running into the Bumpus hounds.

Many others from across the nation have purchased the film’s iconic and expensive leg lamp, alongside other tchotchkes from the home’s online store, to celebrate their holiday bacchanalia.

In hopes of finding the groom’s major award — a fra-gil-e smooth black wedding band that is deep blue on the inside — several people who bought items from the house replied on the Facebook chain that they looked right away in their deliveries.

One man, however, couldn’t pass up the opportunity for the one-liner of a lifetime.

“I don’t think that someone else’s wedding band is a very good Christmas present,” he wrote, paraphrasing how Ralphie feels about a nice football.

The house said online that the ring has yet to be found — oh, skunked again!

For those who wish to keep looking, it is accompanied by an order slip initialed JK. If found, contact support@redriderleglamps.com.

“Your help would mean the world to him — and to us!” the Facebook post added.

It was not immediately clear if the notorious con Black Bart played a role in the seasonal snafu.
