Eagles fans chant ‘thank you Giants’ to Saquon Barkley after huge night
Eagles fans couldn’t help but troll the Giants after Saquon Barkley’s electric night in a 26-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
Barkley — who signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with Philadelphia after six seasons with the Giants in March — rushed for 146 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns to extend the Eagles’ lead in the NFC East.
During Barkley’s postgame interview with Amazon, host Charissa Thompson paused the star running back as Eagles faithful chanted, “Thank you, Giants!”
Barkley’s smile said it all.
“I’m gonna stop you for a second,” Thompson said. “I’m gonna let the crowd take this one. You guys listen at home. They are saying, ‘Thank you, Giants.’”
Barkley recorded 198 scrimmage yards — 146 rushing on 26 carries and 52 receiving on two receptions — en route to the Eagles’ sixth straight win.
He scored two touchdowns 20 seconds apart — with a Jayden Daniels’ interception squeezed in between — in the fourth quarter to turn a 12-10 Eagles lead into a 16-point advantage.
It was his third game with 100 yards rushing this season.
“I love it here,” Barkley told NFL Network after the game. “The city’s great. Culture here is amazing. But most importantly, we got the win. There’s a lot of stuff we can clean up. I can be better at a lot, too, but at the end of the day, NFC East divisional rival opponent, come in here on Thursday night and get a win, it’s big time.”
Barkley surpassed 1,000 yards for the fourth time in his career — and the first time since his 2022 Pro Bowl season with the Giants — on Thursday.
Washington had made an early touchdown stand up through the first three quarters, until a late surge by the home team at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Commanders failed a fourth-down conversion at the Eagles’ 26-yard line with 8:01 left in the fourth quarter and Philadelphia took over after that.
The Eagles and the Commanders meet again in Week 16.
Philadelphia (8-2) next faces the Rams (4-5) in Los Angeles next Sunday.
