Tennis Legend Rafael Nadal to Return for ‘MGM Slam’ Exhibition in Las Vegas

Retired tennis star Rafael Nadal will make his first competitive appearance since ending his professional career in 2024 when he headlines the MGM Slam at T-Mobile Arena on Feb. 28, 2027.

The event was announced Monday, Oct. 26, by MGM Resorts, though its other participants and its format have not yet been announced.

The appearance marks a notable return for one of the most decorated figures in sports history. Nadal captured 22 Grand Slam singles titles—including a record 14 French Open crowns—before stepping away from professional competition in November 2024 following years of battle with injuries.

Nadal last played in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena in March 2024, facing fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in a sold-out exhibition streamed live on Netflix. At the time, Nadal was still an active tour player months away from hanging up his racket.

Since retiring, he has largely stayed out of the competitive spotlight, concentrating on business ventures and his tennis academy operations rather than active play. Whether this Vegas appearance is a one-off exhibition or the launch of a broader post-retirement tour remains an intriguing open question.

The MGM Slam has established itself as an annual anchor on Las Vegas’ increasingly crowded sports calendar. The March 2026 edition featured an eight-player ATP field—including top-ranked American Taylor Fritz—with Brazilian teenage sensation João Fonseca taking home the title.

Nadal’s appearance fee for the upcoming event remains closely guarded. While marquee exhibition appearances by legendary athletes routinely command six- or seven-figure payouts, MGM Resorts has not disclosed the contract terms.

Tickets for the 2027 event go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. PT Friday, Oct. 30 via AXS.com. Exclusive presale access for MGM Rewards and AXS members opened Oct. 27.
