Calling all transit buffs! The MTA is once again hosting a sale of used subway system items at its Memorabilia and Collectibles Pop-Up Shop. For two days only, on October 16 and 17, purchase (or just admire) “perfectly imperfect” items, like subway signs, vintage tokens, benches, doors, and other fixtures.
The MTA sells its transit collectibles year-round, but since the pandemic, the agency has held annual in-person pop-up events, too, with special events ahead of the holiday season.
This year, the event takes place outdoors on an empty lot at 23 Avenue X in Gravesend, Brooklyn. The sale will be held on Thursday, October 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Unlike previous years, there will be no reservations and only walk-ins will be accepted. Cash is not accepted, just Visa and Mastercard. Attendees will have 45 minutes to shop.
The MTA recommends filling out this waiver before arriving.
Past offerings have included subway signs, grabholds, wooden station benches, strip maps, trash cans, and more.
