‘Now Is The Time’: Albany Waterway Project Calls for Action

“Now is the time to make your voices heard supporting The Albany Waterway Inc. vision to positively transform downtown Albany,” according to B.J. Costello, Chair of Albany Waterway, Inc.
The organization is seeking support for the restoration of historic Lock One of the Erie Canal, now celebrating its 200th year, as well as a water feature in front of the SUNY headquarters on Broadway.
In May, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the selection of MIG as consultants to develop the roadmap for $200 million inn downtown Albany investment, a project known as Championing Albany’s Potential (CAP) Initiative.
Following an August 6th workshop the consultants are seeking public input for impactful projects. Public comments regarding the Downtown Albany Strategy should be directed to info@downtownalbanystrategy.com.
The Albany Waterway Inc. is planning an update on their work at the Huxley Theater in the NYS Museum on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 2 pm. For planning purposes RSVP to bcostello@hinmanstraub.com if you plan to attend.
