For $12M, a modern mansion in coastal Connecticut, with plenty of room for guests

With 8,000 square feet, seven bedrooms, and two guest houses, this modern mansion in a coastal Connecticut village was built for entertaining. Now on the market for $12 million, the home at 260 Willow Street in the historic waterfront village of Southport underwent a sweeping renovation that transformed the home from a traditional colonial into a luxurious compound, with a contemporary main house joined by a resort-style pool, pool house, and a garage with a studio apartment.

The property sold in 2020 for $2.3 million. In 2021, architect Christopher Pagliaro began rebuilding the home, keeping only the main structural framing. As part of the project, the team removed many interior walls to create an open floor plan and better flow among rooms.
The renovation team included LTW Design, Spire Construction, and Freddy & Co. Landscaping.

According to the architect, a gallery of glass was added to connect the kitchen to the first-floor living spaces, the only square footage added through the renovation. The kitchen boasts a full suite of Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.
Custom millwork, cabinetry, and white oak beams are found throughout the first level.

In contrast with the light and bright elements of the other rooms on this first floor, a chic bar and lounge has a wall of black Belvedere Quartzite with an integrated sink. For more drinks, there’s a custom, white oak wine cellar.

The huge primary suite takes up the second floor, with a high-end bathroom that has double sinks and heated marble floors. Both the bedroom and bath have direct access to a large private terrace.

The third floor is set up as a hub for wellness, with a home gym featuring weights, a full-length mirror, and Peloton and Rogue equipment.

One of the property’s main highlights is the saltwater outdoor pool, surrounded by a granite patio and lounge chairs.

The pool house was gut-renovated to match the aesthetic of the main home. The space opens up onto the pool, making summer entertaining easy. Additional perks include a barrel sauna and an outdoor shower.

The garage has two car lifts and an upstairs studio apartment, with a full kitchen, dining room, and automatic shades. The 1997 Ferrari 355 Spyder in the driveway is not included in the sale, but a deal could be negotiated, according to the listing.
Southport Village, located within Fairfield, is a charming coastal town full of historic homes, quaint shops, and gorgeous Long Island Sound views. Plus, Manhattan is less than a 90-minute trip away via Metro-North.
