2025 First New Tour Event Scheduled at Historic Cherry Hill

Historic Cherry Hill in Albany, NY has scheduled its first tour on Saturday January 18th, calling it “the first tour experience to give back to the community.”
This tour adds to the many events celebrating the life and history of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a preamble to their 2025-2026 season.
“We wanted to open our doors and offer new hours for the community to tour Historic Cherry Hill and discover how the world has changed from the lived historical experience from the Black inhabitants of Historic Cherry Hill to the Civil Rights Era where Dr. King was the driving force for change,” said the historic site’s Carol Durant.
“Black residents of Historic Cherry Hill include Dinah Jackson and her descendants, the Knapps. “The World of William James Knapp” will be this season’s opening exhibition.
Built in 1787 for Philip and Maria Van Rensselaer, Cherry Hill was inhabited by extended family, enslaved people, descendants, and servants – whose artifacts, documents, stories are impactful and provide new perspectives on the individual’s own stories and place in history.
The tours start on the hour at 10 am, 11 am, noon, 1 pm and the last tour starts at 2 pm on Saturday January 18 2025.
The cost is $6 for adults, seniors, students, and AAA members cost $5, and children 6 through 17 are $3. Cash, checks and all major credit cards are accepted and reservations are not required.
Parking is available at the bottom of the Historic Cherry Hill driveway, South Pearl Street, McCarty Avenue and 2nd Avenue in Albany’s South End Neighborhood. Cherry Hill is located at 523 ½ South Pearl Street.
