On Saturday, December 14 at about 2:50 pm, New York State Forest Rangers Sonja Hale and Nicholas Streczywilk responded to a logging slash pile fire in the Ellicott, Chautauqua County, NY.
Additional fire departments were on scene putting water on the quarter-acre fire. An excavator was utilized to dig a line around the wildfire to prevent it from spreading any further.
By 6:45 pm, the Rangers reported the fire was contained.
